Any calculation you do alone and then act on immediately deserves a second, independent check, and dose arithmetic is a good candidate because the failure mode is a factor of ten rather than a rounding error.

The cheapest second method is a reverse calculation. If you worked out that your dose is 0.2 mL, multiply back: 0.2 mL at 2.5 mg/mL is 0.5 mg. Does that match the dose you intended? If it does not, you have found the error before it reached the syringe.

The second check is an order-of-magnitude sniff test. A weekly dose measured in whole millilitres from a small vial is suspicious. So is a dose of a few hundredths of a millilitre. Neither is impossible, but both deserve a second look rather than a shrug.

The third is comparison against last time. If you have not changed dose or concentration, today's volume should equal the volume you drew last week. A log makes that a one-second check and no-log makes it impossible.

I do the arithmetic myself and then confirm it against a Peptide Tracker & Calculator, which is a genuinely independent path to the same number rather than me checking my own work twice. Doing the same calculation a second time mostly reproduces the same mistake.

When the two methods disagree, stop. Do not average them, do not pick the one that looks friendlier. Find out which is wrong.
